Introducing the Calgary Police Service's "Diversity Unit" -- led by four middle-aged white guys!

Fun fact everyone -- The Calgary Police Service has a diversity unit!

What is the function of this unit?

The Calgary Police Service is a leader in fostering awareness and understanding, both within the Police Service and between the Service and Calgary’s diverse communities. We are instrumental in preserving the quality of life in our community by maintaining Calgary as a secure place in which to live.
We strive to improve awareness and understanding, both inside the organization and externally. By building bridges of respect with Calgary’s diverse communities, we ultimately improve the quality of life for citizens through social development.

Sounds good, though it is a bit self-evident that only the police service itself can be "a leader in fostering awareness and understanding, both within the Police Service and between the Service and Calgary’s diverse communities."

So who are the fine folks who are standing up to meet this challenge and promote diversity?

Well there is this middle-aged white guy:

He heads up the South East Asia portfolio. He loves the movie Gladiator, and really wants to try new food!

Oh...and he thinks there might be a language barrier issue with his post.

Then there is this middle-aged white guy:

His portfolio is South Asia. He loves hiking, grew up in New Brunswick and hopes to overcome people's fears of police that stem from the "old country".

Then there is this middle-aged white guy:

He "identifies" as straight but is, of course, heading up the Gender and Sexual Diversity portfolio. He also loves sports and golf.

And finally there is this middle-aged white guy:

He is dealing with the Caribbean and Latin Americas portfolio. He sports a big ass cowboy hat and wants to make people happy.

What a truly diverse bunch. How can there be any doubt about the sincerity and desire of Calgary's police to reach out and build bridges?

I mean, it is not like having a single -- just one -- officer in the "diversity unit" who was not middle-aged, white and male actually matters.

These officers will show that when it comes to diversity, no one leads like the Calgary Police Service!
