Recently the NDP released a campaign video, narrated and presented by their "Field Director" James Pratt, in which he actually claims that Tom Mulcair is the "only leader who is sticking to his principles and working to expose Bill C-51".
But that is simply not true. It is ludicrously false in fact.
Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party and a Member of Parliament, opposed the bill from the beginning and has done so in far stronger terms than Tom Mulcair.
She has, unlike Mulcair, actually called for the repeal of the bill.
So, clearly, Tom Mulcair is NOT the only leader doing what Pratt claims and it is impossible to see how he or his staff can claim this with a straight face.
It is astounding that the NDP would release a video asserting this.
Given that many NDP supporters want to see a turn away from the simplistic and often facile politics of the Liberals and Tories, trying to do so with a video that is premised on total bullshit is not a good start.
It is also not terribly surprising.
On April 18th, we’re organizing our biggest NDP Day of Action yet - to stop Stephen Harper's dangerous Bill C-51. Watch, then find an event near you: www.ndp.ca/events
